Just look on ebay for a PID controller that has ramp function. Usually comes with 10-50 points for a program at different temperatures (ramping up and down) I have two in my heat controller for top and bottom. Only caution is that the Chinese instruction manuals are a pain to figure out.

Nice - I was thinking of how to do this as well - have you done your layup yet? To make this come out of the press nice you will need a clever way to hold it in place thats for sure. Also in the layup would you cut the fiberglass long and run over and under the end piece, or end it flush right befor...

My method which is copied from someone on here was to keep the camber locked but have replaceable tip/tail blocks. The key thing is that the tip and tail block is milled to fit exactly on the bottom camber (it may need a slight curve) and also the end is exactly the same width of the mdf sheet that ...

Hey Guys - was testing this out and wondering if there is a quick solution for my problem. Basically my X axis is the short one at around 22", the Y axis is longer at around 84". This software uses the ski setup on its side (vs. on its tail) so when i load the toolpath code into mach3 the ...

Thank you... one more question. Do you do the happy monkey method of leaving wood on either side of the core (see link below for reference), or do you cut the core out to shape then glue the sidewall to the core?

Success! I got a nice new 1.5" straight flute router bit (per Mike's Monkey Wiki) and profiled two cores, as well as a 2" wide slab of sidewall material. hey what are your feeds and speeds and depth of cut? did you use same big bit for the core and sidewalls? im getting setup again and la...

@ PMG - I have a few questions about this method. Bit unclear in my mind on how this is working exactly; 1/ My understanding is that you channel out one shape which is the same shape as the ski core plus width of the sidewall. The mold also has the same profile, but reversed. You clamp the profiled ...

I have a mogul and generally happy with it. Works great for cutting MDF and I also have a drag knife that works great. No issues at all. Over the winter I was experimenting with profiling bamboo cores with the Mogul and the machine seemed to handle it alright. I did have some cores come out not perf...

I have a roughing pass but it still runs parallel with the length of the ski. I will try changing it up to a horizontal pass. I use a 1.5" bit and do a roughing pass just as montucky described, followed by a lengthwise finishing pass. All at 75ipm. Questions; - How much do you take off on the r...

Amidnightproject on this forum and one other guy have one. They both seem pretty happy, but the machine has its problems (ie one of them had the Z-axis wander while cutting mdf probably due to the high cutting forces which caused the z-motor to lose steps). Yep. Z axis doesn't have enough torque to...

I have been using sketchup to make the profile and then importing the dxf into aspire to generate my toolpaths. Have had some success but wondering what others are using from a software standpoint to generate tool paths? Also curious what people are using for feed/speeds? I am using a 1.5" bott...
