I dont compensate on the thickness of mine, mind you they spend most of their time in soft snow. I think extra flex in the rear is part of the intension of the design. It you plan on bashing lots of hardpack a little extra beef couldn't hurt, Maybe add 1mm to the core thickness?

Base material treated both sides

Got some base material a few months back and hadn't opened the package. Opened it up today to find that it is treated on both sides. It is iso speed I believe and the same thickness as the last stuff I used. Why would it be treated both sides? Can I still use it as base material? Will it be harder t...

Can't remember where I saw it on the forum here, but the technique works pretty good for me. Use a razor to gingerly and slightly open the plastic cap that keeps the resin out and drop in a air rifle bb. A rare earth magnet seems to locate them pretty easily.

Windsor plywood has it here in Canada. I reckon their US locations would carry similar stuff.

Sorry for the delayed response. Thought this one headed to the bottom of the list already. I am pressing with vacuum using a frame press setup. The core is split before it is layed up. The voids were between the inner sidewalls (bamboo) and base material (no inner edge). Spoke with a fella who does ...

Voids down the middle

Just cut out a splitboard that I pressed only to find some serious voids between the sidewall and base material down the center line of the board. Almost seams like air was trapped in the layup. I've used the same layup technique successfully on a hand full of other boards already with no major issu...

Been curious about cutting fish scales into the ptex of a split deck. Cross country skis still seem pretty fast going downhill. Could possibly use a router jig to cut a similar pattern to yours huck, just couldn't be as pronounced due to ptex thickness. Could still have the option to put skins on wh...

Thanks guys. The base material just follows the contours of a mold that goes in the press. The profile is built into the core as well.

As for huck type video I put out this short edit with one of my first test decks last season.

Cool design. How fast is the board on the downhill slide compared to a standard deck?

The skateboard looking one is kind of something like the dps spoon idea having cleats for traction due to this one only having sidecut between the bindings. It seems to bite better than the others in softer snow but I can feel them slow things down on hard pack. Mind you this board shape should just...
