Thanks for your advice, Vinman. Thats kind of the procedure we followed for our first 10 pairs, and they turned out fine. I did it pretty much the same way this time, but it warped a lot... The things you mention are without doubt important, but I think I will buy some new base from a different supp...

1,2 mm base with 1,3 mm edge + Base warping + skibaumarkt.de
I had some serious base-warping on my latest build. When the skis where put base-to-base the offset at the tail was approximately 10 mm!! We have made at least 10 pairs without this problem, With bases from the earlier store at skibuilders.com. (32 cm wide, split in the midle and the routed to shape...

Thanks, Chrismp! :-) I will probably order from them. Any opinions on which Product I should choose? I see that Gozaimaas is happy with 305. I have a pair of half finished skis that I would like to try this on. The only problem is that the cores are already profiled.... Which got me to thinking that...

Re: The pouring urethane sidewall thread
I thought I would start this thread so that info on pouring urethane sidewalls can all be found in one place. If you pour your sidewalls please post up. Ill start. I used smooth-on product smooth-cast 305. It works very well and machines up easily. It is also quite hard and impact resistant. It cur...

Heavy Coat Paper. Better print quality then rice paper with a nicer finish product. Just have to trim away any white you don't want. http://api.ning.com/files/eosGhOuvIgPLAsf7giNet4d7kvsEEHSRzFkWDpsiFmzLgl9rXt*OqAoX3VIOiTfoQ3CeFGhcdKzfrj4do*wACeylf9RC3*lo/Screenshot20110329at3.58.24PM.png Looks gre...

To solve the issues with both paper feed and UV resistance get yourself a printer that has a backside paper feed, lets you choose thicker papers, supports long roll paper by default and has pigmented inks! I've tried printing on both wood veneer and cotton cloth (latter one attached to a thick roll...

It really saves you a lot of time and it looks nice too. Oak is my favorite :D The thing is, I have so much sidewall material that not using it would feel wrong... It was really expensive! I know what you mean... We bought a lot of sidewall material that we are not using... Have you used oak for si...

Thanks for pictures:-) No, I dont think it will lead to lower pressure in certain areas. The bladder and cattrack will apply an even pressure. This will depend on how much the bladder is inflated. At least I think so.... Correct me if Im wrong:-) Actually I think that if I do try this idea out I wil...

Nordic skis - Base material
I have a friend interested in building nordic touring skis ( fjell-ski for norwegians or other scandinavians). He would like to have the base waxless. I am quite sure that the waxless bases are made from regular bases and the pattern is cut by a milling machine. I dont think it is a good idea, for s...

Thanks for feedback:-) I've been doing something similar, but I vacuum press. I'd be worried about the mdf mold breaking if I had a pneumatic press. I can hear my mold cracking and popping if I use too big of spacer under it. It's made me jump a couple times. sam Yes, I have seen some of your posts ...

So, no, I'm not suggesting that you move the waist of your ski design back........... As far as pressure point goes, it helps if you can determine what part of your ski boot applies the most pressure to your skis.... G-man: I guess you are right that there is no simple answer to where the location ...
