So we're still working on the ski design. And as usual, the mor I work with it, the more questions i see.. Here is what i got so far: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/eiriklh/utkast4.png My questions now are: - What are peoples experience and opinions with dual radius? I see that the big manuf...

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I will make some changes to the sidecut based on your info. Do you mean that I should shift the narrowest point back as much as 100 (or more) mm ? (I have size 28 cm boots). Sounds like a lot Regarding CF i don't know if I agree with you. I have made skis with that fabr...

For the moment I only have a biaxial 320 g 45 -45 CF and the quad axial 450 g CF, and acording to my calculations for the same stiffness there is really no weight difference. I guess i could do a strip of uniaxial fiber togeter with the ligth biax fabric to optimize for weight. But I really like the...

Touring ski design

Hi Just made a new touring ski design. This is going to be my allround touring ski. And I'd like your opinions on the side-cut design. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/eiriklh/utkast2.jpg The core is going to be a combination of aluminium honycomb and aspen. And the laminates are going to be ~...

Hey Rich, we just use a simple propane/butane torch. We use the purple part of the flame, which is the hotest part (secondary combustion), and supposed to give the highest bombardment of the surface. -> increase the surface energy. The speed which we move the torch is about like walking speed. http:...

great! I see that in the 3M brochure they rate the adhesive from -50C to 80, so i guess it's not that "glassy". I am very interested in seeing a prototype ski made with polyurethane!

thanks for the replies... We are not using heat blankets yet, just regular fan heaters. So we are definitely ramping the temperature up slowly. To about 40 C. We did try to squeeze out the bubbles after putting the topsheet on, but it did'nt seem to help much. seems like heating the epoxy slightly a...

Edit: seem like this post did't work the first time... Before building a pair of skis with this I would look more into how the properties of polyurethane changes with temperature. After a quick google search I found this: http://www.adhesivestoolkit.com/Docu-Data/NPLDocuments/P%20A%20J/PAJex%20Repor...

So I tought it was time for an update. We have been making 4 pairs since last time i posted, gradually getting a little bit better every time (except for one pair). The first few pairs we had some problems with delamination between the sidwall and fiberglass/carbon layer, because we forgot to heat t...

Nice graphics!

How did you get it on the topsheet? did you order it from codaboards or did you do it your self?

For the black carving skis; how did you do the screen printing? looks awesome.

Hey, I was on a presentation about ski history a couple of weeks ago (mainly cross country skis). One of the main things the presenter talked about was the evolution of base material (from the 1930 s until now). For the oldest all wooden skis, Ash was supposed to give the fastest skis. We even have ...
