Interesting. How well do you think 3/4" thick 5-ply wood would hold up? I have a bunch lying around. Or do you think a hardwood like your maple rig is necessary?

Cattrack Materials: Aluminum, Steel or Wood

I'm looking for people to give some pros and cons of each material. I've seen in your threads that each of these materials are used for cat tracks. I'm interested in consolidating a list of pros and cons of each. Here are some of the things I know already: Aluminum Pros: Light weight (For a metal) C...

Just look at some photos. Take square aluminum and cut it to the width you neeed. The drill holes at the end to run cable through. Would you put rubber spacers between each length of square tube? It would reduce the amount of aluminum or steel needed and be able to flex better at the tip and tail c...

Yeap, that controller will work great! All you need is a SSR or two. Also were you going to build 120VAC or 240VAC mats? If 120 the magic number is around 10ohms and at 240 40ohms. If you need anymore help just ask, I've built a few. Thanks! I believe it has an SSR built into it. Can I really do th...

Ogden ETR-8120-31221 Temperature Controller

Hey everyone. I came upon an unused temp controller here at work which the company is willing to give me. I've read a bit about it and I think it will work for controlling some heat blankets. Can anyone confirm this for me? http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&am...

ggardner - I'm in SLC too. Is it really cheaper to have it shipped from Calibamboo than to source it from local distribution center like DB's McKillican source?

It would be interesting to here what the practical results are from using g-flex. Although the problem remains a two fold issue; find a product that it good enough to sustain a bond while it is passed through a planner. I've used G-Flex for repairs. Primarily in fixing delaminations. I tried the sl...

I had some Scott P4's a few years ago which had a titanal layer. They were really damp and could bust through the nastiest mashed potatoes and chopped up powder without bucking you and throwing you around. I miss those skis.

So far I have really loved my Bosch 1617EVSPK so far. 1/4", 1/2" collets, variable speed and slow start. I grabbed it from Home Depot for $180. I still haven't needed to use the plunge base yet. I haven't really seen a need yet. http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-1617EVSPK-4-Horsepower-Variable-C...
