As it is quite a wide ski i dont think there will be much issue with torsional strength. Watch this space

We just finished a pair using Paulownia with some carbon between the stringers and bamboo sidewalls. 19oz fg above and below with a carbon uni strip on top. 184cm long 140 110 130 and only 1800grams per ski. Definitely not noodles as well. Seemed to be some advantage to having the carbon between the...

We use a 3kg block placed at the boot position to measure the stiffness of the cores. Each end is placed on blocks and the resulting deflection is measured and recorded. Both cores can be placed side by side to ensure that they have the same flex pattern. You can use this method to define how stiff ...

I cut through my mould from the bottom half way up. About 200mm back from the end of the running length I then cut some .7mm aluminium sheets same width as the mould and in increasing lengths, shimming up to 7mm, ie 70mm, 140mm 210mm 280mm etc Placed this under the mould. Pressure comes on forcing t...

Bamboo is quite heavy (785kg/m3) probably due to all the glue holding it together. To have only achieved a saving of 180grams per ski makes me think that the foam cores absorbed a lot of epoxy in the lay up. We have changed from bamboo to a Pacific Kauri (540kg/m3) , achieved the same deflection pro...

Carbon Fibre vs Fibre glass
Wondering if anyone has built a ski using only carbon fibre. Is fibreglass imperetive or is it just an economic reason that glass is used over carbon?
