I haven't been keeping up well with my blog, but my work has not stopped yet. April 28, 2010 12PM-2PM 120MINS Today I went to the local hardware store, Country Three Corners, to see if they had any blades available for my sabersaw. I couldn't exactly remember what the blade actually looked like, so ...

April 9, 2010 8:14PM- 8:40 26 MINS Went with my good friend to get some wood for the core of my skis. She searched patiently with me as I roamed the wood to see what was available. I ended up choosing poplar, because it was cheap and light. I also looked for some epoxy. All they had was garage epoxy...

@skidesmond thank you very much! You are also right about a timeline, and I think from my next post on I will post mini goals for myself, as a motivation to get out and do it. Maybe day-by-day goals or maybe week-end goals.
Thank you again!

May 7, 2010 5:05PM-5:47 42MIN So today I ordered the final pieces I need for my skis (top sheet and sidewalls). The only real material I need now is the wooden core. I spent a lot of time researching different types of wood and think I am going to settle on an ash and poplar mix. Or something like t...

April 6, 2010 1:30PM-2:56 86MIN So today I started looking into writing my reflective paper, since I do not actually need to have the project complete to work on it. I talked to my Senior Project Coach about how to write it. As a reminder to myself, make sure to include all dates when writing out th...

Hey guys, no worries on ordering supplies. I order everything I need off of the ski builders website. It only takes about four to five days for supplies to get to me and the last time I ordered the supplies were sent out next day. The only problem I had was that FedEx was having trouble finding my h...

April 1, 2010 1:55PM-2:29PM 34MIN So today I had a bit of free time during study hall to do a bit more research. First I went and replied to chrismp and knightsofnii who both offered me great advice for improving my press in order to prevent the impression of the screws copying to my bases. Then I w...

@chrismp: Thank you for the tip. I have never done something like this before so it's nice that people are informing me of little things like that along the way. And thank you, I'm trying to keep it as up to date as I can haha. @knightsofnii: Yeah the screws did cause a bit of difficulty for me and ...

March 17, 2010 4:44PM-5:33PM 49MIN Today I went to get wood with my friend from Lowes. It took some time to actually find the Masonite board. March 16, 2010 2:18PM-3:11PM 53MIN So today there is not much I can do for this project. I have little to no time to work on it due to many activities that are irrelevant to the project. I did some measuring to determine how much Masonite board I should have and have come to the conclusion that two ...

March 13, 2010 6:10PM-8:30PM 140MIN I decided it was about time to fix the pieces of the mold. My mom helped me fix the drill, because the drill bit was loose and kept falling out. I adjusted each of the tip/tail pieces by a few inches each side. My mom found a good clamp that I could use. It worked...

March 11, 2010 3:30PM-4:37 67MIN Due to the rain/snow mix in the area, I have decided to skip on the Masonite board for another day. I began screwing together the ribs and tip/tail pieces. I grabbed what looked like 1" screws, but were too short. I found a box of 2" screws and used them in...

March 10, 2010 7:33PM-8:28 55MIN So I began cutting the rest of the tip tail pieces as soon as I got home. It was so dusty, my mom and her friend were laughing at how filthy I looked by the end. For the most part it went without fail. However, at some point the saw "jumped" because I let g...

March 9, 2010 6:15PM-7:27PM 72MIN This is going to be brief because I have a huge AP Biology test review to finish. I did not manage to get the final supplies yet for the mold, and have fallen behind a little. I cleaned the room a bit before starting with any cutting because the dust is everywhere. ...
