SA, unfortunately ;) I can shift it to Adelaide for collection as well. Work will pay to move it all over for me, so pickup can be Melbourne or Adelaide. -edit- Veneer size is something like 360 x 2000 (mm). Plenty wide enough for one snowboard or two skis at least. There are several sheets. There's...

Possibly stupid question here chrismp, but how slow can your router spindle speed be set? If the knife is on a bearing at the bottom, does it matter it the router is spinning? Obviously it isn't ideal and you probably don't want it going at 4000rpm, but it may well still work if you can go slow enou...

What an awesome job. How do you even get a job like that? I work for GM in Australia. In my job I work in future programs, and I get to drive pre-production cars from time to tie. I had one of only 12 Chevrolet SS cars in the world that were registered for normal road use as my daily driver for a fe...

Like a few others here, I'm a beer brewer. Been a while since I've done much though! Progressed from kit level to full grain, was pretty in to it with my now brother in law. We lived together through uni and had 5 beers on tap, not a bad uni house :P He's working on kicking off a microbrewery now. I...

Sweet vid man. I was in the Powder Kingdom myself in Feb of 2011, what an incredible place. It just does not stop snowing =D I think I recognised some of the tree areas you went through. I rode myself in to the ground though, my fitness wasn't up to deep powder and we rode from first to last lifts w...

I used 1.3 edges with 1.2 base. No warping to speak of, but you could see the edge tines through the base. I got the impression that because the base was slightly thinner, the tines pushed in at an angle like so: https://www.pebblepad.com.au/rmit/download.aspx?action=view&useroid=0&oid=27740...

If I might be so arrogant, my undergrad thesis has methods for vibration testing and stiffness measurements for snowboards. Vibration: https://www.pebblepad.com.au/rmit/viewasset.aspx?oid=203657&type=webfolio&pageoid=277408 Stiffness: https://www.pebblepad.com.au/rmit/viewasset.aspx?oid=2036...

Welcome :) I'm hugely interested in prepreg, to save all the mess, of course. What kind of temps did you need to run in your press to get the prepreg to bond? Sorry to hijack your thread - I'm a snowboard builder and a poor one at that - I don't have much specific to add to your questions. Feel free...

Anybody know anyone who's used one of these yet?

For the price it certainly is tempting. An 8x4 slate pool table off ebay to hack apart would give a stable heavy base to mount it to. For $1500 you'd be pretty much set.

1. Measure the gap 2. Inflate and measure the gap Easy. Exactly. It's quite simple, I used a metal ruler though not a measuring tape. I left the ruler in place while I inflated. Then deflated and measured again. The before/after inflating was consistent. I also dug through my data, I was incorrect,...

An old subject, but in case someone is digging/searching - I beams will deflect a ton. As MM said, you need to support the centre. My press is made with massive I-beams weighing around 600kg and at 60psi I see around a 3-5mm (measured, not calculated) deflection in the top beam. The bottom doesn't d...

That belt sander setup looks awesome - another thing added to the shopping list (just what I need, haha). I'm using a vertical one that runs off one half of a bench grinder, it does the job but it's not always the easiest thing to use. New ski's look great Tim, tried them out yet? With the snow we'v...

Reworked the heat control system this week, the blankets are now controlled by two separate PID controllers & SSR's. Should give better control top & bottom, I was finding the top blanket was creeping in temp quite a lot with a single controller. Also finished off my basic cassette today - w...
