Thanks everyone for the input. I lay my fiberglass 45 toward core top and bottom and I use a carbon strip on top of a wood core and thought I laid it up pretty strait and square but really did not pay that much attention to it. I also will check my press for square and my mold. The mold is where I t...

Twisted Skis

Has anyone had problems with skis having a slight twist to them? It's hard to tell if my mold has issues, if it twists while cooling down, or if my wood core is slightly twisted, causing it to twist after pressing. Also hase anyone had their bases change shape after cutting. I had 2 sets of bases ma...

I have all-ways put VDS on top of edges only. I did not realize people were putting it on top of sidewall also. Is the top layer necessary? Has anyone had delams because no VDS on top of uhmw sidewalls?

You should check out Grace Skis. I am pretty sure they use bamboo for the entire core, sidewall,tip/tail.

Bob did not mention anything about post cure. I did not see that in the instructions or I would have asked. I will try to email him with some questions and include that.
How do you tweek your heat cycle to affect camber and tip?

I just spoke to Bob at Entropy (he is the new Desi - who is in France now) and he said to cook at 180*f for 16 to 20 minutes and then pull from press and put on a rack or surface that mimics the camber (like you said MM). Would leaving it on the mold to cool with no pressure be a good idea. He also ...

Thank you for the replies. Twizz. I never paid attention to the fibers on the fiberglass. I think I can see what you are saying and I will try to orient them as such. Basically I lay the FG with the long fibers facing up on both layers. I measured the deflection in my I beams with a string line and ...

I have been dealing with some camber issues also. My bottom mold is such that I should have about 7mm camber/ski (14mm for both). When I pull the skis out of press I end up with about 7-9mm for both skis not 14mm. I heat top and bottom @ 150 *f and pess @ 50 psi for 90 minutes and then let cool down...

I might be able to help. Camber/tip-tail molds would probably need to be mine. I live in summit county though. I know OZ snowboards is in Evergreen, maybe he would press a pair for a price. Adam is really nice and if he has time he might be able to help you out.

Richuk, Thanks for the info. I would also be one of those people interested in a ski software program. PM me if you get one going. I will pay a reasonable fee of coarse.

Snowcad is producing a different radius on each side my ski. I use it to cut out my bases on a CNC and after several different attemps the same result. Its killing me. It has to be the software. Maybe I have an old version or it might be that I am not online when using snowcad. I do not see how that...
