i've cut my 0506 (?, the all black ones) gotamas and sealed them with usual epoxi … no issues until now. they became my rockskis over the years but still work fine, no delam whatsoever. somewhere on this site must be some pics. in the quiver thread on tgr is a pic, too.

bigmoq: I've done my skis with the kind of press you describe, with an upper and an under mold. both were cnc made. it worked pretty good, however, I used a 1cm sheet of rubber to equal everything.

well, I still doubt you can acutally feel those 3°. As you know I've already tried duck quite some time ago and couldnt find any reasons to mount skis that way (besides the negative thing that you cant switch youre skis anylonger as soone as the inner edges are worn) ... and about the roadracers: th...

you could use an epoxy additive to colour your epoxy, so you cant see inside the ski and second, the uv-problem is solved. (but as far as i know, the uv-problem isnt really a problem because the amount of time the epoxy has to be exposed to the sun in order to turn yellow or eaven loose its sticking...

you can "see" the scale of the sanouk on this pic, i can take a picture mayself this weekend ... it is, as you thought, around midsole and doesnt really do the trick the way you did it: http://www.snowrental.net/images/equipment/skis/volkl/05/med/05_ski_volkl_sanouk_li_01.jpg about the mid...

hey, i was on duckstance for about 2 years ... quite a while ago, must have been 2003 on the sanouks, they had some scale printed onto the topsheet to figure out an angle. What i learned: it doesnt do anything, i didnt really notice, neither positive nor negative. then: there are so many many very b...

I had no problems using the veneer press ... as you mentioned i've put a soft layer between the press and the mold, I took a 1.5cm sheet of rubber. And my mold is very exact due to the cnc cut. One thing that can happen is the veneer to not stick to the rest of the ski, this can happen any time pres...

great project! my thoughts: - use a vacuum press - with a vacuum press it should be much easier to build an adjustable mold (concerning the length of the ski and the thickness of the core, the width doesn't matter that much) - it should not be a problem to get cores you just have to process. Ask the...

I know from experience: the thinner the woodstripes you use, the more torsionally stiffer the ski gets. I've tried a core with 2.5cm wide stripes and one with 0.5cm wide stripes. Identical wood (obachi). The cores I used the 0.5cm stipes came out noticable (a lot) stiffer, longitudional and torsiona...
