Hi, It took me much longer than expected to build this pair, as I received an offer I could not refuse on a (much much bigger) ski press! Lots of epoxy, tip spacers, bases, edges, CNCed planer cribs and molds coming with it, along with heat blankets. I am now officially forced to build skis during t...

I don't know about the epoxy, but it seems like a decent deal. And I think it seems suitable for ski building. But I have never tried that epoxy. As for the kevlar and carbon fiber, it really depends on the orientation of the fibers. You want to have a biaxial sheet at +/-45 for the carbon fiber, an...

Hello, I am building a planer crib for a pair of fat (145-117-134, 19m@180cm), and was wondering how thick the core should be in order to have a medium stff ski. I am not too sure how the length and width will affect the overall stiffness of the ski. My last pair had a 2.3-11.5-2.3 poplar core with ...

Max Skis-2013
Hello! I had attempted to build a pair of skis two years ago with mitigated results, but I got experience and it was a lot of fun! It was for a final project for grade 11, which is the end of high school here in Quebec. I had some other projects going on and didn't have time for skibuilding. I recen...

Yeah, there are 2 attach points on each side of the binding for the carbon plate. When you flex the ski quite hard, you can see the plate move, and it is loosely attached, so that the screws force the plate on the ski, but still allow forward-backward movement. Atomic also has almost the same model ...

I think the easiest way to achieve this is by using a layer of biaxial and adding a layer of Uni. You would be able to get the combination you want, only limited by the cloths you find. As for the strength, I have heard 2.5X, but I guess it varies o the exact type/manufacturer of the carbon and glas...

Hello, It is doable as a school project, I did it with mitigated sucess. But read the forum and research, it will be even more convenient and will bring you much more than just asking vague questions. Try to find a school that might allow you to use their vacuum bagging equipment. They have experien...

Hey don't worry about being 15 years old! I managed to build a pair of (almost) potable skis at that age. You can check out at your school if they have money for students' project. I no longer had time to build skis for the past year, but I now have access to a press which means I am going back on i...

gimmick? In a snowboard, the two camber sections would be under your two feet, which would grant you the benefits of the cambered sections, but in a ski I have the impression you would be better with a flat camber or real camber. If you are in powder, I doubt the two small cambered sections would gi...
