Looks amazing, I really like the look of that veneer.
What thickness of aluminium are you you using for the base mold?

Looks very nice, that is a large screen for a first-time attempt. I took serography (screen-printing) along with a bunch of other printmaking in University, so I know it can be a challenge. However, silk-screen can have many colors and details, just look at a t-shirt. Do like the graphics though com...

I believe that they are for alignment of the layers in lay-up. Others have suggested a dowel system to do the same. It's interesting to see that dynastar uses a similar band-saw core shaper, just automated and vertically oriented. (about 30 seconds in) http://science.discovery.com/videos/how-its-mad...

I agree Shopvac. I think it's more in the rate of taper, not just the over-all tip-mid-tail number. I had a similar problem, my first crib was too thick and stiff flexing (very long/slow taper) and my second the opposite (which became the core for my sisters ski). It really does depend on core shape...

I've used both Plyboo and Teragen bamboo vertically laminated plywood. I found it holds up very well skiing (all wooden side-wall) and bamboo veneer top-sheet. For thickness I planed to approx 13mm centre and 2mm tips. It is on the stiffer side, but I prefer a stiff ski. They were softer than my ros...
