@MontuckyMadman, thanks, newton-meter and a ratchet-type setup was my idea for the slow method.
Care to discuss how you did the slap-test? I´m having a hard time figuring out a good way to swing the skis with enough force...
@twizzstyle, sounds like a good time!

Breaking skis (destructive testing)
Are there anyone here who´ve built anything for the purpose? I´d like to break some protos at some point in order to find the most durable layup, and while I´ll likely be able to do this, it would be very helpful if anyone has already done something similar. Edit: Both a slow approach with gradually...

Ask this guy: http://www.interestingproductions.biz/Carpathian%20Ski%20Company.html The cosmetics are not very good, but i think the idea has potential... Will it be better than rev/rev in pow? Don´t really think so. Will it be better than rev/rev on groomed? Probably, but who cares. But it´s an int...

I might be wrong, but I´ve always thought the radius given was derived by imagining a circle touching the three points of the ski (nose-waist-tail) in the same plane as the ski. As such, it is not the actual turning radius (which will depend on angulation, surface and a bunch of other factors), but ...

I don´t know much about the resonant frequencies of different metals, but if you are thinking of the ski as a whole, a heavier ski will tend to have a lower resonant frequency, thus dampening out faster vibrations better than a light ski. Companies who build light skis with a lot of carbon tend to b...

Found something here: http://www.iso.org/iso/en/CombinedQueryResult.CombinedQueryResult?queryString=ski+boot They all seem to relate to ski/binding/boot however, rather than just boot flex. My guess would be that they are related to DIN-standards for bindings and requirements on release characterist...

Ski boot flex testing
I know this is a bit on the side, but does anyone know of any testing/measuring of boot flex having been done? Is there an industry standard? How does the flex rating of different brands compare? A setup similar to Endres for testing ski flex should be easy enough to build. Clamp down the boot. (Usi...

It kinda makes sense using old wood that has been lying around for ages. It is completely dried out and stable. Thinking that I will try to find some left over or old wood when it´s time to build my first pair of skis. Extending the length of the pieces should be no biggie. Either do like you did, o...

Re: Ski designs
Yup. The skis are reverse-reverse. See www.praxisskis.com for more info. Looking forward to testing them next season...
There are several more designs posted on the following pages of the thread btw.

Ski designs
I´ve posted a few designs I did over at TGR, waiting for Praxis skis to get their designs ready after ordering a pair for next season. Think some of them came out pretty good. http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82720&page=3 Svimen (aka SiSt) Really cool factory graphics Schüss! ...

I have been thinking about a convex base, as i think this would work really well on fat skis, making them easier to throw around and easier to slide. I own a Bataleon snowboard which has a 1/3 convex-1/3 flat-1/3 convex base, so something like that would be my first idea. I like the board a lot, it ...
