13+lbs must be per pair...no? Still sounds heavy though.
Just a typo on my part. Should have been 3lb. 15oz. instead of 13 lbs. I fixed in my post above. Thanks for catching it.

Hey gang, I call marketing hype on the Air Core. Yes, that cross-section sample looks nice and clean, but it's just a demo section for shows and photos. It likely isn't even cut from an actual ski. I'd like to see what the air channels look like after cutting an actual ski in half. Also, consider th...

By measuring the mass-produced skis I have available it seems like recommended boot-center is located at approximatly 42% of the skis length (measuring from tail) The narrowest point seems to be at the same location as boot-center or a couple of centimeters rearward. This so much depends on what el...

It consumes more epoxy than FG.
Good point QAC. I've felt that was the case intuitively, but I haven't had a chance to prove it out.

Do you mean that I should shift the narrowest point back as much as 100 (or more) mm ? (I have size 28 cm boots). Sounds like a lot Hmmm... this might be a little tough to explain... and I'm sure that you already know some of this stuff, so bear with me here. For starters, for ski turns on firm sno...

Hey Eirik, I have just a couple of comments regarding the basic shape of your proposed design. Since you indicated that this ski is to be used for all round 'touring' (as opposed to all mountain 'back-county', where you might be landing switch at times), I'm assuming you're going to be doing as much...

Yep, Byrd makes a cutter head for about any planer you can buy. Here's a link the the biggest distributor that I know of:

Great memory Richuk. Yes, I have about 20 heaters from Hi-heat. Been using them for about 6 years and have never had a failure. Hard to beat the prices on the 'catalog' heaters (they're short'ish, but I don't use full length heaters in my presses), and they're usually delivered within 2 days after I...

This Carradan guy has been in courts all over the world for his various sales scams over the last 20 years, or so. There's lots of dirt on him if you do a search. He's sold a few skis for 20 grand, but never delivered a single pair. It's been awhile since I did the research, but I seem to remember t...

Hey MM, Yes, I'd be into getting a big bunch if the price were more attractive. However, according to my late night math, a 12 inch x 100 meter roll at $910 works out to be $.75 per 1 inch x 1 meter. At $50 for a 70 meter roll from CDW, the price for the same sized piece is $.71. If I had a need for...

Hello Mr. Madman... :D Ha, did that guy have a good sense of humor, or did he really think your last name was 'Madman'. Wait a minute... maybe your last name actually is Madman. At any rate, thanks for passing along the info. I'm not quite sure what he's saying, but I guess it doesn't really matter ...

MM... I got the wider rolls from CDW. However, I just learned that they're no longer available, secondary to not enough demand. Dang. I'll let Mark know that I'd be in for four or five rolls, if that would help to increase demand enough to warrant getting in a batch of 13 inch rolls. The price on my...

3000 meters divided by 10 builders equals 300 meters per builder multiplied by 13 (how many 1'' rolls you get from a 13 inch wide roll) equals 3900 lineal meters of 1 inch VDS divided by 8 meters (approx. how much goes into one pair of skis) equals 488 pair of skis. Yep, that's a lot of VDS. MM, I'm...
