Core Template vs. Actual Board/Ski Size Template

I am sure these are silly questions. When measuring for core size template, how much do you need to subtract from the board/ski size to accomodate for the sidewalls? For example, if I have a board that has finished size of 28.3mm at tip and tail width and waist at 23.5mm. How much do I need to subtr...

So if I plug an ethernet from "my" stack to the work laptop, they will communicate? or do I have to set up a network? Is that difficult? I did print out the PDF and once all 16 pages came out, I pieced them together on the floor. Talk about a cool a$$ thing to see. Just excited because I h...

SnoCAD-x

While i am finding the new x version to be pretty sweet, I am having trouble with the PDF format. The only printer I have is set up on my work laptop and Snocad is on my personal computer, so I have to save and send the PDF to my work laptop to print. Problem is........the template I have made is in...

Setting up and measuring Side Cut Radius

Folks Getting set to cut some other alpine board cores in the near future. My first core was developed from another board I own, so I "cheated" there. But how do I actually measure the SCR. give an example if you could, say for a 14 SCR to keep it simple. I will be using oversized graph pa...

Someone mentioned to me the use of a "mask" layer of fiberglass (not roving) for certain lamination bonding and separation. I plan to use 3-4 layers in my full build for the above purpose, not for structural purposes. What is the techincal name and weight of said "mask" fiberglas...

thanks

So you are saying from the top down: Topsheet Mask VDS (strips or the whole way across?) Titanal Mask Core Mask Titanal VDS (Strips along edges) Base Should there be another layer of mask in the bottom T, VDS and base or will the T and BASE bond? VDS makes sense because I have been told before it ac...

Hugo Thanks, but thats where I am struggling. Determining what laminates and their sequence. I understand that the Titanal teamed with some CF (uni) significantly helps with the torsional becuase of the qualties of the T. I have submitted some build sequences with fiberglass to a contact I have who ...

It is for an alpine board and I will be using Titanal, which is my understanding, I can go a bit thinner in thickness, but becuase I am a bit heavier at 210 lbs I may keep it at 2mm/7mm/2mm.

I was taking a look at one of my other alpines and it seemed a bit thin as well.

Other input is welcome.

Are my measurements right for Core thickness?????

Folks On my first board build. Finally had some garage time today, wife and kids went to a party. As I was tinkering with core thickness measurements and adjustment calculations, my head keeps telling me that 7mm at center and 2mm at tip and tail are awfully thin. I am using a micrometer and caliper...

I picked up about 10 feet of this 8" for $25 from my buddy who works at a local supply house. I havent tried it yet, but it is good to 115 PSI and seems to be easier than setting up a dual fire hose. that was whole sale price,so idont know what it is marked up. http://www.jasonindustrial.com/pd...

You can do that from what i have read, but you need to be sure to find a good method to adhere or connect it with the tail and nose of the board, i.e. fiberglass.

AH!!!! Ok, now I get it. Any idea what angle a snowboard core needs to be (i.e. the wedge under the core) to go from a 7mm at front of front binding to 2mm at tip and tail. I have had a long day of work and my brain isnt geared for geometry right now. Asquard plus b Squared = Csquared. Plus I bridge...

It should be enough depending on how wide you you make it. You also need to consider the length your press will be.What PSI are you going put the bladder at.

This may be a silly question but are you guys using the planer to create the core thicknesses over the length of the skis/board? I.E. 7mm at center and 2mm at ends. The planer I use to clean up my wood products just has a single thickness adjustment and then it is fed thru by the planer. Are the pla...
