I meant something different than what I wrote. If that makes any sense. I should have written something more to the extent of that the thickness of the core material has a more significant impact on what we refer to as the "flex" of the board than any other property in the build. I am not ...

The stiffness of any laminate, including skis and snowboards, is determined by the thickness of the core. Nothing else. Fiberglass relates to the strength of the laminate. Extra glass will not necessarily make for a stiffer feeling ski.

oh and i think lib only made the mtx skis specifically because they had to in order to get a patent on it in the ski industry how well that patent holds up is yet to be seen i'm sure That is incorrect. Lib has been making skis for almost as long as they have been making snowboards. This is just the...

How do you apply your epoxy? If you haven't try using a piece of topsheet material, cut so that it is about a 6x6" piece. Then using serrated scissors trim one edge so that you have 1/8" deep grooves. This allows for an even distribution of epoxy on the base, core, and topsheet. Obviously,...

I would guess that you are prolly right. The reason being discussed at the time had something to do with the length of the fibers. I believe that most wood fibers are short whereas bamboo naturally grows with longer fibers. The board was built on a production shape so my comments were comparing the ...

I tested a full bamboo core snowboard for a week, quite a few years ago. We used full length bamboo strips in the core. The board rode real soft and smooth with an insanely consistent flex. There were no weight savings, and the cores cost more, so the idea was shelved. I would like to build another,...

you can also tape a piece of thin white paper over where you think the inserts are. Then rub a piece of pencil lead over the paper. It should show up pretty clear where your inserts are. you can then mark them with an automatic center punch, and drill away.

If you have your vacuum at 15 psi and then put it in a press at 35 psi, there will be 35 psi on your board.

I couldn't find the page, but it's out there in google land somewhere. I seem to remember that a 20" diameter pipe of .065 wall steel was rated to withold much higher pressure than what we generate. I would worry about deflection if the mold isn't shaped the same as the inner diameter of the pi...

Salomon is producing some interesting boards with three straight lines for a sidecut. Burtons version looks like it might actually work ...

I have been thinking of building a board like this for a couple years. All of this patenting nonsense ...
