Have you thought about kevlar on top of the base...seems like a good idea in Crested Butte...rocks.... rocks...rocks....that place will eat a ski! especially when it doesn't snow

Drew i think you should focus on making a workable press before you worry about design. I would also focus on starting out with a simple design... with your "precision" it will end up with unintentional magna traction either way.. keep with it!

a couple years ago they advertised the carbon skis in alot of magazines and trade shows and I have never seen anyone actually skiing on them.

That must say something, although I have never skied on a pair.

thanks for the info, this time of year it's hard to find a shop that is still open for a grind. I will look into a silicone belt for the sander. seems like it should work with the right touch.

Base Grinding

I just finished my first pair of skis and they turned out pretty good. I will post pics soon... I am ready to ski but I need a base grind.. has anyone used a benchtop belt sander for this? It seems like it would do the trick but I wanted to check and see if anyone has done this before I completly wr...
